UK Government Launches Space Industry Plan

Last week, the UK Government published the Space Industrial Plan, that sets out to modernise the relationship between government and the commercial space sector, establishing clear visions, missions, and actions to unlock growth and develop resilient space capabilities.

Phil Chambers, CEO, said:

"Orbex strongly supports the government's ambition to advance the space industry and is supporting this by providing a unique end-to-end UK launch capability to our UK and international partners, delivering their satellites into orbit from Sutherland Spaceport in Scotland.

As mentioned in the report, Orbex continues to grow high value engineering and manufacturing jobs in Scotland and we are forecast to employ our 200th team member by the end of the year, demonstrating both our commitment to the growing space industry and establishing a leading global orbital launch services company in the UK for the benefit of all."

The Space Industrial Plan aims to cultivate a vibrant ecosystem of space companies of all sizes, driving innovation and ensuring operational independence in a contested space environment. It will also be instrumental in guiding future spending decisions and ensuring the efficient allocation of resources in support of the UK’s space ambitions.
